At Ivory Cliffs Estate you will see multiple stags in each category, this allows for personal preference on antler shape etc & gives you the ability to pass Stags that are broken or you do not like.
Ivory Cliffs Estate caters to bow hunters. Our guides are experienced guiding archery hunts, these are conducted via spot & stalk or sitting near prominent game trails etc.
In New Zealand there are no regulated big game hunting seasons. The “seasons” are dictated by antler growth. We start hunting late February - July.
We aim to keep the shots inside 300 yards, but this can be catered to the hunters requirements.

Early season is warm days often with occasional thunder storms. Mid season temps drop to Mid 50s with cooler mornings & evenings. Late season we can expect daily frosts, cold wind and highs in the 40s.
There is no minimum, you are better to hunt with a bow you can comfortably draw, than a bow that is hard to draw and you make lots of movement doing so.
Yes, however you need up to 6 months to obtain permission from the NZ police. We will assist you in this process, however we advise against bringing a firearm if you plan to do any pre or post hunt touring in NZ or have any other stops along the way.
The terrain is a mix from flat, to vertical on the cliff faces. With most of what you hunt in the moderate category. The property is well tracked for ATV access however.
No, once we identify a trophy animal we are dropped off by the helicopter and the shot is made from the ground.
They rut from mid March - end of April. This also coincides with the Sika & Fallow.
The Schedule is fairly fluid, as the Tahr & Chamois hunt is based on the weather. Your hunt will always start at the Ivory cliffs lodge in the North Island, then when the weather is right you will travel to the south island.
Yes, we can arrange for our videographer to film your hunt and provide you with an edited film of your hunt.
The best time for this hunt is from late April to the end of July. This is because at this time of the year (going into our winter) the Tahr have their best capes. Their maine is incredible!!
