Retreat to our private, meticulously appointed lodge after a day in the field.
Our lodge boasts that it is based in the heart of our hunting property. Surrounded by the echoing roar of the Red Stags that radiate off the “Ivory Cliffs” that encompass the lodge. Imagine unwinding by the wood fire, recounting the day's hunt, or glassing the stags from the comfort of the living area. All of the guest rooms are situated for views out towards the Hawkes Bay coastline or the Shine Falls, a local waterfall cascading down out of the sandstone cliffs.
The lodge's greatest asset is its exclusive location right in the heart of the hunting property, a feature that distinguishes Ivory Cliffs Estate as one of only a few operations to offer this significant advantage. This proximity eliminates time-consuming daily travel, removing wasted time and dramatically enhancing the quality and length of your hunting experience in the field.
The lodge features:
- Four king / Queen sized guest rooms with three ensuites
- Living & dining area that looks out to the “Shine Falls” waterfall
- Views into the hunting estate where you can glass the various game animals
- Two wood fires for that rustic lodge elegance & outdoor seating
- And most importantly that “put your feet up” attitude
Gourmet Dining & Culinary Excellence
Our industry leading Chef prepares exquisite farm-to-table cuisine, featuring local, seasonal ingredients & the best cuts of game meat, perfectly paired with fine wines.
Of course you can't forget the pre dinner nibbles & dessert!
We believe that sharing a meal fosters connection and camaraderie. Therefore, all meals are served buffet style in our main lodge dining area. This setting is designed to create a warm, family-like atmosphere, where guests, guides, and staff dine together, sharing stories and tales from the day.
Guests can anticipate substantial and satisfying dining experiences, including cooked lunches and dinners that showcase the best of the region and the estate. To ensure you can maximise your time out on the property, the morning starts with a light continental breakfast, this includes our famous, convenient breakfast burritos & muffins, which are perfect for taking with you on the mornings adventure, ensuring you are fuelled up for whatever the day holds.
The evening ritual is a true indulgence. Before dinner, guests are invited to enjoy a selection of delicious pre-dinner nibbles & cocktails, setting the stage for the evening meal. Dinner is then followed by a delectable dessert, paired with fine wines from New Zealand's renowned wine regions, completing a truly exceptional culinary journey
South Island Accommodation
The two South Island accommodations are exclusive to Ivory Cliffs Estate clients, ensuring a private and tailored experience for your high-country trophy hunt. The West Coast option is based in the sleepy mountain village of Fox Glacier, where, after a thrilling day of hunting, you can enjoy local dining and even a taste of the region's quiet nightlife. Conversely, for the East Coast experience, you are nestled into the mountains of the Rakaia Valley with spectacular views into the Southern Alps, enjoying warm, home-cooked cuisine that perfectly complements the remote, rugged setting
East Coast (Rakaia Valley)
After your commercial flight with Air New Zealand from Napier to Christchurch, you will be driven by your guide to our remote accommodation nestled in the beautiful Rakaia Valley. This location provides comfortable, cozy lodging strategically positioned for prime access to the East Coast hunting grounds with a breathtaking view up the Rakaia valley. Literally walk out the door, into the helicopter and you are on your way!
West Coast (Fox Glacier Township)
For the more exclusive experience, the West Coast option begins with a private charter flight in a twin-engine Navajo plane, taking you directly from the North Island (Napier) to the Fox Glacier township. Your luxurious accommodation awaits you here, offering stunning views and quick access to the remote West Coast hunting area. The extreme remoteness of this area of New Zealand, coupled with the reduced travel time thanks to the private charter, not only adds flexibility but also offers the potential for slightly higher trophy quality due to the complexity of accessing the area.
