Hunting in New Zealand: Ivory Cliffs Estate

Ivory Cliffs Estate offers hunting in New Zealand on a private 2,500-acre property in Hawke’s Bay. Hunters can pursue world-class Red Stag, Sika, Fallow, Arapawa Ram, feral goat, and other species based on their chosen package.

Hunters can also add Himalayan Tahr and Chamois in the Southern Alps. Each hunt is planned around the hunter’s target species, trophy goals, physical ability, and preferred pace.

Why Hunt in New Zealand?

New Zealand produces some of the world’s most impressive trophy Red Stags. Heavy antlers, long tines, and the intensity of the Roar have made it a bucket-list destination for hunters around the world.

Few hunting destinations allow you to pursue a world-class Red Stag and experience a true alpine hunt in the same journey. New Zealand does—and Ivory Cliffs Estate can build the trip around the species and trophies that matter most to you.

Red Stag Hunting at Ivory Cliffs Estate

Red Stag hunting is one of the main reasons hunters travel to New Zealand. Mature stags are valued for their antler mass, long tines, and extra points.

During the Roar, typically from March into April, mature stags become more vocal and active. Hunters work with an experienced guide to locate the right stag, evaluate its antlers and trophy class, and execute the stalk.

Ivory Cliffs Estate is known for world-class Red Stags. The New Zealand Red Stag hunting package includes a personal guide, four nights of accommodations, meals and beverages, ground transportation, airport transfers, trophy fees, and professional photography.

More New Zealand Hunting Species

Red Stag may be the primary target, but it does not have to be the only species included in the trip.

Ivory Cliffs Estate offers several additional New Zealand hunting species, including Sika, Fallow, Arapawa Ram, feral goat, and Elk or Wapiti.

Sika are alert, elusive animals known for their sharp senses and distinctive whistle. Fallow bucks offer a different trophy with their recognizable palmated antlers. Arapawa Ram and feral goat can also be added to create a more varied North Island hunt.

Hunters looking for an alpine challenge can extend their trip to the South Island for Himalayan Tahr and Chamois. This gives them the opportunity to hunt Hawke’s Bay and the Southern Alps during the same visit.

Plan Your New Zealand Hunt

Most international guests travel through Auckland before taking a domestic flight to Napier. Ivory Cliffs Estate is approximately one hour from Napier, with airport pickup typically arranged as part of the trip.

The Ivory Cliffs team helps coordinate the details, from arrival and accommodations to hunting packages and target species. Whether you are pursuing your first New Zealand Red Stag, returning, or planning a multi-species hunt, it starts with a conversation.
